Boot Size

Your street shoe size is wrong for snowboarding. Get your precise Mondopoint measurement and find the right fit before you buy.

How to measure in 2 minutes
1
Put on your snowboard socks — thin to medium weight. Thickness changes the measurement.
2
Stand on paper against a wall. Heel flat against the baseboard, full weight on the foot.
3
Mark the end of your longest toe with a vertical pen. Lean forward slightly to simulate riding stance.
4
Measure heel-to-mark in centimeters. Repeat for both feet. Use the larger measurement.

Why Your Shoe Size Lies

The biggest online boot-buying mistake: buying your street shoe size. Snowboard boots use Mondopoint — your foot’s exact length in centimeters. No regional bias, no brand variation. A 27.5 Mondo boot is for a 27.5 cm foot, full stop.

“I have seen thousands of riders suffer with wrong-sized boots. The most common issue is a half to full size too big. People expect wiggle room — in snowboarding, that room is a performance killer. Trust your Mondopoint and size down rather than up.”
Too Big = Heel Lift
Your heel rises during heelside turns. Zero edge control, fatigue, and blisters. The liner packs out and gets worse over time.
Correct Fit
Toes brush the end standing straight. Flex forward and they pull back slightly. Snug but not painful — it will soften with riding.
🧦
Wrong Socks
Thick cotton socks absorb sweat, bunch up, and take up space your boot was fitted for. Always use thin synthetic or merino wool.

Pack-Out is Normal
Foam liners compress ~half a size after 3–5 days. A snug new boot is intentional design — do not buy bigger to compensate for this.

Fit Questions Answered

Should new boots feel uncomfortably tight?
Very snug, not agonizing. Toes should lightly graze the toe cap standing straight. Flex your knees into riding stance and they should pull back clear. Curled or cramped toes = too small. Wiggle room = too big.
What does “pack out” mean and how much will it happen?
Boots pack out as the foam liner compresses and molds to your foot — typically about a half-size over 3–5 days of riding. This is why sizing snug is correct. A boot that feels slightly too snug day one will often feel perfect after a few sessions.
Is Mondopoint more accurate than US or EU sizing?
Always. US and EU sizes vary between brands — the same “Size 10” from Burton may fit differently than Size 10 from Salomon. Mondopoint is a direct centimeter measurement of your foot with no interpretation needed. When ordering online, Mondopoint is the only size that matters.
Should I size differently for wide vs. narrow feet?
Yes. Mondo measures length, not width. If you have wide feet, choose brands known for wider last profiles (Burton, K2). If you have narrow, low-volume feet, look at Salomon, Ride, or ThirtyTwo. Some brands offer wide-fit variants explicitly. Check our brand fit profiles above.
Can I heat-mold my liner for a better fit?
Most mid-to-premium boots include heat-moldable liners. The process involves heating the liner (often with a hairdryer or a shop’s oven), putting the boot on, and standing in your riding stance while it cools. This creates a custom foam impression of your foot, dramatically improving comfort and response. Many shops offer this as a free service with purchase.
